Attention to Customer Needs

Ralph's combines a reliable line of Juki Union Special products with a commitment to helping the customer.  "What makes us special to customers is our advice and knowledge," said jack Makovsky, chief engineer.   Jack has a long and extensive experience in sewing factories.  Customers who call on that experience know they are getting the proper equipment for their specific job in view of the efficiencies and flexibility required for that application.

Recently, a large luggage manufacturer approached Ralph's for a machine which was no longer available.  Ralph's fabricated new fittings and gauge parts on a new Union Special 51500 Series machine to perform the identical operation.  As a result, the manufacturer was able to retain their old equipment and install the newer machinery while maintaining production.

Manufacturing parts for the customers when O.E.M. parts are no longer available is just one of the services Ralph's provides, thanks to their in-house machine shop. R&D Manger Paul Badillo explains, "We fabricate standard and obsolete parts, clamps, plus develop new attachments and automated equipment for all types of sewn products.  We are able to realize our ideas in-house rather than undertaking the task of outsourcing to someone else.  We take our ideas from thought to prototype to product in a  very short time."

"Much of what we do here is unusual," Jack Makovsky commented.  "We sell a lot of specialized products.  We do a lot of heavy industry work here for organizations with special needs like NASA, the military, and the prison system, as well as large corporations such as Borg Warner, Chrysler and BF Goodrich."

"We dig deep to understand our customers' needs, and we always try to keep ourselves in a positive position, in terms of inventory, knowing what we're going to sell on a weekly or monthly basis.  We keep genuine Union Special and Juki parts inventories.  That's one of the most important elements to holding and maintaining our solid customer base."

As Peggy Badillo, manager of the parts department explains, "We prefer to use genuine replacement parts for our customers' repair needs.  We find in many cases that genuine parts last longer than their allied counter parts, but we still offer allied parts."
